I think it's kinda hidden... all the 'sons of Adam' crap. Rolling Eyes I just hate anything that's trying to preach to me! Especially when it's been disguised. Laughing

Laughing I don't realise stuff sometimes when I'm reading. I read A Song of Ice and Fire a while ago now... it's a big fantasy series by George RR Martin, everybody's still waiting for the last book to come out... and I only found out the other day that two of the character's were gay and in a relationship!! I was like what?! Laughing I missed that.

At the moment I'm reading a book called "The far side of a kiss" by Anne Haverty. It sounds kind of chick-lit but it really isn't - apparently in the 1820's a guy called William Hazlitt fell in love with a girl who worked at his lodging house and wrote a book about their affair, Liber Amoris, which ruined both his reputation and presumably hers as well. This book imagines her side of the story, which was never told. There are some great lines in it about the inequality of men and women in those days and the London of the time is really well described. It's not heavy going but there's more to it than the cover suggests!

I'm still reading Smoke and Mirrors by Neil Gaiman, nearly finished it now though. I've just bought Fragile Things by him, which is another short stories one so I'll probably read that next.

Reading "Eclipse" by Stephenie Meyer. It's the 3rd book out of four - the twilight series. I thought I would read them because they're very popular & I really like them, though I wouldn't have expected myself to

I've just finished Smoke and Mirrors by Neil Gaiman (the last two stories in it totally creeped me out!) And am now deciding between Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman and The Book With No Name by Anonymous. Confused

I started reading the second one, then got bored about 15 pages in! It's exactly the same as the first, only way more over-wrought. I don't reckon I'll finish it!

Been reading away like mad recently, but trying to get a headstart on the studies now so I've got a few sociology books to get through! They look interesting to be fair, but not exactly light bedtime reading, they're all about racism and sexism and exclusion!

Just started reading The Book with No Name by Anonymous. And not sure what to make of it. It was originally self-published and I think you can tell. It seems like it was written by a teenage boy who knows how to tell a good story but doesn't know how to write. It's very OTT... although I'm not quite sure whether it's meant to be that way! I'll stick with it anyway.

^^I've heard of that, suppose it stuck in my head because of the title....

I'm currently reading "Racism in the Irish experience" Laughing Though my Mum dropped off The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, it's meant to be very good, about a boy growing up in Afghanistan, so I might have a read of that!

I literally walked in Whsmiths and bought this book because I like the name.

It's called "The Name of the Wind."

I'm only a couple chapters in at the mo. Its not that good yet but I hope it'll pick up.

Anyone read it?

No, don't think I've even heard of it, but I do like the sound of the title too!

Edit - Read and really enjoyed The Kite Runner yesterday. Started reading Gilead by Marilynne Robinson last night. It's okay so far, about an elderly preacher who has a young son and he's writing him letters for the boy to have when he grows up as he knows he's going to die soon. It's a bit heavy going and morbid a few times, other times there are touching little anecdotes. Will have to see how it progresses.
