WL Writers agencyhttp://www.wlwritersagency.comJust a warning that these might be dodgy. I submitted something to them as they're an agency not a publisher (they do keep saying that over and over on their site!) and then I heard back from them and had to answer some questions, which I did. Next thing I got an email from 'Strategic Book Publishing' saying that they'd publish my book as a traditional publisher (and I'm thinking hang on, didn't I contact an agent?!) and that they'd do it for free. They then say that their 'internal' costs are $675, but not to worry, they wouldn't make their authors pay that, they then said what I'd have to do instead is buy 25 books at $15 each, every month for 12 months!!! If you work that out, it's well over $675. Major dodgy methinks! |

It's naughty cos I expect people are seeing the $15 and comparing it to the $675 and thinking it's less. Wonder how many people have forked out for it?! |

Probably quite a few, since you've experience you wouldn't be caught out but if that was the first place someone sent a book to they might well be fooled by it! |

Yep! On their site they've got an FAQ bit, and I always read everything in case it's dodgy, and one of the 'questions' is Are you a Vanity Publisher? And their reply is that they're not a publisher at all, they're an agency, and as an agency they don't get paid until you do. So I don't get why they're then offering to publish my book for a price!! |

Suppose they'd say it's not them, it's technically a different company...but it seems like they're two sides of the same coin! |

Yeah. Well they must've referred me over to this other company or something then, but it wasn't them I contacted so tis stupid! |

Ok I did hear back! All they said was 'ok that's fine' and attached an agreement!

No I think they read it! Cos I had put I'd rather pay the $675 than the other, pointing out to them that it's a rip off, and that's the reply I got! |

Yeah, out of all the ones I looked at they seem the best...haven't done any work on my novel in months and months though so it doesn't apply! |
