Twilight - Stephenie Meyer

A mate lent me this and I didn't realise that it was young-adult fiction. I read it in less than a day and thought it was alright, quite a decent story and a load of cool vampire action.

Apparently though, it's a worldwide phenomenon, there's websites and fansites all over the internet and it's being released as a film just before Christmas this year. I'd never heard of it before last week! Laughing

I'd recommend it as an easy holiday read, it's certainly not going to use up too many brain cells, but it's pretty gripping and the pace doesn't drop at all (well, apart from the end which I thought was slightly ropey - but i'll leave you to judge for yourselves!)

Never heard of it! Less than a day?!

Yeah, less than a day!! It's really easy to read and quite tricky to put down.

I'd never heard of it! Laughing It's nice to have a good easy read sometimes though.

How long is it?!
redwinegoblin

Not very long - um... maybe just under an inch thick. Not sure how many pages that is! Laughing

300 odd? Something like that. Not too long then!
redwinegoblin

Nah, not too long at all!

Hmm... was just about to buy this but it sounds a bit meh! Laughing Is it a series? Cos I can't be arsed to read a series. And the main character's called Isabella... that's just off putting! Maybe I'm too fussy.

The synopsis put me off.
"When 17 year old Isabella Swan moves to Forks, Washington to live with her father she expects that her new life will be as dull as the town. But in spite of her awkward manner and low expectations, she finds that her new classmates are drawn to this pale, dark-haired new girl in town. But not, it seems, the Cullen family. These five adopted brothers and sisters obviously prefer their own company and will make no exception for Bella. Bella is convinced that Edward Cullen in particular hates her, but she feels a strange attraction to him, although his hostility makes her feel almost physically ill. He seems determined to push her away ? until, that is, he saves her life from an out of control car. Bella will soon discover that there is a very good reason for Edward's coldness. He, and his family, are vampires ? and he knows how dangerous it is for others to get too close."

I think it is a series, although I've not bought any of the others yet... might do when I'm browing bookshelves next...
