Guildhall Press

Just got this press release and thought I would share it with you all, I know most of you are on the mainland UK but I think they're looking for quality rather than where people are from, worht checking out anyway! I met Felicity McCall a few months ago, she is a journalist turned novelist and playwright from the area and recently had her first book published by Guildhall with two more in the pipeline, she was happy with them and I enjoyed her book. I'll certainly be sending my novel in when i get it finished!

Guildhall Press Challenges New Writers

Derry publishing house Guildhall Press is expanding its horizons and has plans to compete with (and beat!) the giants of the book industry. And a first step is to attract new creative writing talent and challenge them to produce exciting, innovative works of fiction.

Managing editor of Guildhall Press Paul Hippsley explains:

"Our main publishing focus to date has been on local history, social history, folklore and photographic collections relating to Derry or its hinterland. Although these titles have proved very popular, they appeal to a limited readership who can personally relate to the areas or topics covered. We will continue to meet this demand.

"But for Guildhall Press to grow, compete with, and overhaul the Random Houses and Macmilllans of this world, we believe we need to dramatically develop our fiction output. To this end, Guildhall Press is inviting writers across the spectrum of literary fiction to submit their work for consideration. We are looking for confident, fresh, spikey writing from authors who have something to say and want to be heard (and read). We want to challenge these writers to prove to Guildhall Press that their work deserves to be on the shelves of every bookshop and in the hands of millions of readers worldwide.

"So, if you are up to the challenge and believe you can be not just the next Dan Brown, Iain Banks or JK Rowling but the first Mr or Ms Great New Author, then send us your manuscript.

"Please go to How To Submit Your Manuscript first to ensure correct presentation of material.

"We look forward to hearing from you. Good luck!"
