Great, thanks! I like the look of a few of them that pay! Very Happy Laughing
Em_J

Yeah, I've just submitted the butterfly story to the first site there. It's American and there aren't too many restrictions. They pay!
April_Rose

Yeah, it's always worth a go!
Em_J

Yeah I think so!
April_Rose

Yep! I like the idea behind the smokelong one! Laughing They don't pay but I might give them a go all the same.
Em_J

Ah yeah, time it takes you to read is the same as it takes you to smoke a cigarette!
April_Rose

That's a great ethos! Laughing
Em_J

I have no idea how long it takes to smoke a cigarette though! Laughing
April_Rose

About 4 minutes!
Em_J

Oh right!

Here's another page I had bookmarked for some reason...

Ah yeah, that's one of the ones listed on that markets site I think. Good to know all these things are out there. Think I'll subscribe to that flash fiction online one too.

Speaking of cigarettes, I'd better go, have to head down to the shop! Laughing Laters!
Em_J

Bye!
Em_J

Another one, but they only accept really short pieces.

April_Rose

Wow, 360, that is short...still, to write a good piece that short is bound to improve writing skills!
Em_J

Don't think I could do it. Not a complete story!
April_Rose

I don't know if I could, it would feel too short, like the one with the religious mother and demon daughter I did yesterday, I couldn't call that a complete story, as such, but it has characters, a plot and a conclusion to the events that occur....
Em_J

I can't do it, not plot, characters, and conclusion like that, tis too hard!
April_Rose

Some of your pieces have been pretty short, how long was the butterfly one?
Em_J

Just over 500 words. 504 or 507. I can't remember which! The two short peices I did recently were both just over 500.
April_Rose

Well that's still pretty short!
Em_J

Yeah I think that's about as short as I can go!
April_Rose

Don't rule anything out, couple of months back you said you didn't have a clue about writing a short story and then you wrote one and got it published!
Em_J

Yeah I'm still in shock about that! I think of all the times I've tried to get a novel published having written loads of them, and then the first short story I do gets accepted first time! Maybe I should've just done shorts in the first place! Laughing
April_Rose

Laughing Well it's a good way to get started I think, if you submit a novel and with it there's a list of publications you've had stories in or competitions you've won they might be more likely to look at it.
Em_J

Yeah that's true, should've thought of that years ago see. Rolling Eyes
April_Rose

Meh, unfortunately it seems to be one of those things you only pick up as you go along...
