Edward Thomas

Edward Thomas was one of the "war poets" . I studied his work at university and although on the surface a lot of it is about war, there are deeper undertones of alienation, his struggle with depression and his love for the English Countryside in all it's forms.

There are some anthologies of his work available - The Green Roads is one of them. I think my favourite poems are "The Glory" , "It was upon" and "March"

I love Edward Thomas! definitely one of the greatest "war poets" in my opinion. I always liked the fact that on the surface his poetry people would assume its all about war, but then they look deeper into it and really get to know the poet, if you get what i mean.

I think my favorite poem of his is probably In Memoriam, even though its only 4 lines long, i think it says a lot about him in my opinion.

Yay, another Edward Thomas fan! Not many people seem to like him - I think a lot are put off by studying his work at school and just taking it at face value Sad
