bookcrossinghttp://www.bookcrossing.com/This is a marvellous idea - basically, you "set a book free" by leaving it (well wrapped if weather conditions require it) somewhere with a note saying why you love it and then someone else picks it up and reads it. You can therefore pass on great books within your local area or in a wider community - people can use the website to leave information about books they have released, or books they have picked up. I also think it might be a good way for an aspiring author to spread the word of their self-published book. Release it somewhere that it is highly likely to be picked up and plead with whoever picks it up to release it again when they've finished with it, and review it on the website. it's a bit of shameless self-promotion but it has to be done! Could be worth a try anyway! |
