You should know by now that I can't stand JK Rowling, mostly because she's a stuck up lying cow, and cos of that I refuse to read Harry Potter. But I've just seen this, and it makes me dislike her even more!

This is a character called Timothy Hunter, created by Neil Gaiman. LINK

The picture is from the Vertigo Paperback edition of Books of Magic released April 14, 1993. Harry Potter was released in June 97. Suspicious much?!

I don't mind the Harry Potter books as such but I've always said they're far from original, I used to love the Worst Witch stories when I was younger. Don't think she's capable of an original idea really, this doesn't surprise me at all!

Yeah I read the Worst Witch and always though Harry Potter seemed like that too. I wouldn't mind so much but she denies everything so much! Lots of stories are similar, it's ok!

Yeah, I mean, most fantasy stories have been inspired by LOTR, and even that was inspired by various mythologies, and the basic "heroes quest" template....that's the way it works! She does deny it a lot doesn't she?

Yeah, everything's always her totally original she thought of it first idea. That's why I can't stand her.

That's just stupid, even the best authors will admit that it's hard to come up with a truly original idea, so many things have been done now!

Yeah and they all say who they were inspired by but I don't think she does that.

You're probably right, I can't remember her saying anything she was inspired by, even stuff she loved reading as a child.

Laughing Yeah, it annoys me when people talk like she's single handedly responsible for resurrecting kids' interest in reading....

Oh god yeah, don't get me started on that! It really bugs me when people say 'The next JK Rowling' too!! Do I want to be the next JK Rowling?! No bloody way. I'd rather be the next Phillip Pullman.

Well yeah, that's true, but if I had to be compared to anyone, I wouldn't want it to be her!

Yeah, I suppose comparisons are inevitable, but technically I don't think she's that great a writer either!

No I've heard that she's pretty crap. Another reason for me to not read any of it! I heard she's writing a prequel now too.
