I know many people disparage Emily Dickenson, saying she was depressing and wrote about death. She did write a lot about death, and they are among her best poems, but she also wrote a lot about nature and the world around her, and in general I find her easy to read - she doesn't overcomplicate matters, and overall what I get from reading her poetry is a sense of peace and faith in the beauty and subtle power of nature.
