Asham Award for unpublished women writers
woman writerEntries are being accepted for the Asham Award short story prize for unpublished women writers
Prizes: £1,000; £500; £300. Runners-up receive £200 each, and have their stories published in a collection by Bloomsbury
Entry fees are: £15 or £10 concessions.
Stories may be on any subject; but be no more than 4,000 words in length.
Entrants must be female and can be of any nationality and from any country providing they are aged more than 18 years of age and currently resident in the United Kingdom. They should not have had a novel or book of short stories previously published.
An entry form is required.
The anthology will include specially commissioned stories by Esther Freud, Yiyun Li and Alison MacLeod.
Copyright will remain with the winning authors. Acceptance of the prize money will indicate the author`s agreement to her story being published in an anthology by Bloomsbury Publishing. There shall be no further fee for such publication, said the organisers.
Bloomsbury Publishing will represent the author in the sale of any subsidiary rights to the story arising from the publication of the anthology and will pay the author her share within 60 days of receipt.
